Susan White Morrissey founded White + Warren in 1997 with women at its center—and this philosophy still rings true today. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States, claiming one in three lives. Knowing firsthand what it is to lose someone we love to this disease, we want to do our part to raise awareness and drive positive change. This is how we plan to get there.
We’re excited to continue working alongside the American Heart Association and its Go Red for Women movement to rally our communities to be the beat for someone they love. This year, we encourage everyone to join the CPR Challenge. About 90 percent of people who suffer out-of-hospital cardiac arrests do not survive. If you are called on to give CPR in the event of an emergency, you will most likely be saving the life of a spouse, a parent or friend.
1. TAKE THE CPR CHALLENGE
CPR can double or triple a cardiac arrest victim’s chance of survival. Watch the 90-second Hands-Only CPR instructional video at heart.org, so you can save someone’s life.
2. WEAR RED & BE THE BEAT
Share a photo or video on social media of yourself in red and at least one healthy habit you’re practicing on February 3, 2023, and use #WearRedDay to raise awareness.
3. OPEN YOUR HEART
Create your own donation page via WearRedDay.org to contribute to AHA’s mission to build longer, healthier lives free of cardiovascular disease.
4. SPREAD THE WORD
Share your personal connection to the mission to your friends, family and coworkers. Encourage them to get involved for a good cause.
5. EVERY BEAT COUNTS
Move to the music, meditate to find your zen, try new heart-healthy recipes–small actions build up to big changes over time.
We are building on our annual commitment to raise heart health awareness by supporting the American Heart Association’s Life Is Why™ Campaign. This includes helping to fund lifesaving research and advocate for equitable access to care and treatments in our communities—especially those disproportionately affected by cardiovascular diseases, particularly women.
Created to support the fight against heart disease, this year’s Life Is Why Shop features a limited-edition capsule of heart-embroidered cashmere styles. With each purchase from the shop throughout February, 20% of net proceeds benefits the American Heart Association’s Life Is Why™ Campaign.
We are working with ShoppingGives so you can make a donation of your own to the American Heart Association’s Life Is Why™ Campaign. White + Warren will match all donations dollar for dollar now through February 28, 2023.
