London Style Junket

Last week I had the pleasure of going to London seeking inspiration for our Fall ’08 collection.  With two days and a city to cover the size of New York,  strategy was a necessity.  Being a consummate shopper, I have seen the major designer collections in New York since July.  What I needed was a taste of more local talent and smaller brands as well as the ability to see what women were wearing within the city and slightly outside.

My journey began in Hampstead, where I found great knit and woven combinations. Then over to Primrose Hill followed by a walk  to St. Johns Wood and shops with great textured and stitchy sweater coats. Lastly, I found the best of the best in Notting Hill: slinky silk jersey knits, avente-garde layering and Sienna Miller’s eponymous store.  Thankfully, Notting Hill was at the end of the day as I could have spent morning, afternoon, and evening there!  It maintains a local vibe with pubs and cafes but has the most fabulous collection of shops which are always stocked with great new finds.
