Introducing Cashmere Pashminas by Anupamaa for White + Warren

On a recent trip to India for creative inspiration, White + Warren founder Susan White and design staffer Bari Cohen were immediately taken with the color and energy they encountered everywhere. At Indian Fashion Week, they met New Delhi designer Anupama Dayal and fell in love with her collection. The Anapumaa line brings together traditional Indian hand-crafted textiles and hand-blocked prints with updated silhouettes. A partnership was born, giving rise to Anupamaa for White + Warren, a collection of cashmere pashmina wraps. Anupamaa for White + Warren pashminas are woven with pure cashmere yarn, then hand printed using traditional natural dyes for vibrant yet sophisticated color combinations. Each pashmina is then trimmed at the edges with a contrasting band of silk chiffon. With a distinctive softness and drape, these pashminas can be worn in an almost endless multitude of ways- whether as a wrap, shawl, sarong, or surplice top. Creative Spring Styling

Springtime dressing can be quite a challenge. There are endless WHAT IFs… What if I get caught in a freak rain storm and my pants soak up every drop of water from the sidewalk… What if the forecast says ‘high of 80’ and I walk outside to find 55 degree weather while wearing a t-shirt and shorts… I think you get what I’m saying here. The only solution that I’ve found to these challenges (and I’m open to suggestions!) is making sure that no matter WHAT I see out my window, I always have the following with me for these unpredictable months: a pair of Havaiana flip flops (I’ve ruined too many sandals in monsoon-like rain), the smallest umbrella I can find, a generously sized scarf and a light jacket or cardigan. For the latter, I have a steady rotation of second layers that include a classic jean jacket, my black Pima Cotton Jersey Blazer, an amazing silver grey Calvin Klein windbreaker and a driftwood Cotton Boyfriend Cardigan. As far as scarves go, the Pima Cotton Travel Wrap is always perfect in Slate or Royal Plum, the easy Modal Tee Travel Wrap in Medium Grey Heather and an occasional Cashmere Travel Wrap in a bright springy color when things are looking particularly gloomy outside. Spotted: White + Warren Cashmere Travel Wrap on Gossip Girl

We LOVE that the always-scheming Jenny Humphrey rocked the Cashmere Travel Wrap in this week’s episode of Gossip Girl. Little J and her fellow Upper Eastsiders took to the streets in a serious game of Assassin, the tag-like game where players sneak up on unsuspecting opponents to win as the only player still alive at the end! Not surprisingly, the cashmere-clad Jenny triumphed in a battle to the… well, death against birthday boy Nate Archibald (we’re pretty sure it had something to do with her killer ensemble of a grey Travel Wrap + a stealthy black fedora). It’s also worth mentioning that Serena, coming in very close at 3rd place, was wearing her black Cashmere Wrap Scarf! Ah, just another day in the charmed lives of New York City’s youth. Watch your back out there!

Spring 2010’s Cozy Cotton Coat

It’s warming up here in NYC and our thoughts are turning to spring jackets. It’s just about time to ditch the heavy coat in favor of lighter weights. We can’t wait to rock our new Belted Sweater Coat with Current/Elliot denim leggings, our Pima Cotton Rib Tank and tall boots (like the magnificent Belstaff Trailmasters at Net-a-Porter)! The wide collar on our Belted Sweater Coat looks great with scarves- the Cashmere Wrap Scarf for now and the Pima Tee Wrap for later. For warmer days, try pushing up the sleeves and tying the belt in the back to wear it open over the new spring cropped cargos (we love J Brand’s version). The sweater coat is so easy to wear, plus it transitions nicely into fall.

Holiday Storytime with Simon Doonan

This week, Susan and I stopped by Demandware’s holiday party at The Penthouse at Barneys New York. The main attraction of the evening was the Simon Doonan appearance. After picking his best lighting spot, Simon casually stood to one side of the room and proceeded to captivate a roomful of weary ECommerce execs with his rollicking tale of decorating the White House for the holidays. With a true storyteller’s gift, Simon was utterly charming and entertaining, proving why he continues to be the driving force behind Barneys’ standout creative marketing. Cheers to Simon, we can’t wait to see what you come up with next!

White + Warren loyalists tend to purchase sweaters and travel wraps in multiples… sisters, best friends, mothers, mothers-in-law, even boyfriends and fathers are always happy to receive a bit of cashmere from a loved one. Recently, a certain W+W devotee shared her Thanksgiving day-to-night style with us: Michelle decided on the Sequin Tank in black matte for some glitz, paired with the Silk Cashmere Rib Trim Cardigan to match. Michelle then told us that her mother wore the exact same cardigan (which she had given her) *sigh… nothing like a little family coordination! We love hearing stories like this.
